ABOUT US
New Durango - Quintana Roo
Located in the heart of Quintana Roo, the community of Nuevo Durango is a natural and cultural treasure that invites visitors to immerse themselves in its traditions and unique landscapes. Founded some 70 years ago, Nuevo Durango is home to nearly 300 people organized into 62 families who have cultivated and preserved their ancestral heritage.
The first settlers arrived in 1945 attracted by a cenote that served as a refuge for birds and indicated the presence of fresh water. As time went by, our community grew and in 1962 the ejido was legalized, establishing Nuevo Durango as a 1,410 hectare space for urban and agricultural use. For years, our existence went unnoticed on maps, but the natural and cultural richness of our environment has begun to shine thanks to ecotourism.
In Nuevo Durango, every corner tells a story. From the art of hammock and bracelet weaving to charcoal sales and insect fishing, our activities reflect the deep connection to nature and the wisdom of our traditions. With more than 1200 visitors last year, our goal is to continue to grow each year, always seeking a sustainable and uncrowded tourism.
By choosing Nuevo Durango as your destination, you will not only enjoy a breathtaking environment, but you will also support our community in its quest for sustainable development. Come and experience the magic of our culture, the hospitality of our people and the beauty of our natural surroundings.
We are waiting for you with open arms!
